Urban Artistry is excited to be performing in the 2018 Intersections Festival at the Atlas Theatre.  Manuscripts Found in Light: A Warrior’s Guide encourages us to live out our dreams, to embrace the uncertainty of life, and to rise to our own unique destiny. This urban dance theater show curated by Urban Artistry will consist of personal statements through the eyes of featured artists from worldwide urban dance communities.

Through movement, spoken word, music and visual narratives these artists will journey through topics exposing the frailty and strength of the human condition: on fear, loyalty, purpose, courage and solitude, of dreaming, beauty and vulnerability. To reveal the human values that have endured throughout time—then as now, this show will reveal the capacity of how urban dance culture helps us to reveal who we are, what we fear and what we hope for in the future.

We believe that answers and healing are found through honesty, guidance, and accepting adversity. Honesty is the Warrior’s way of shining the light into the dark depths of human fallibility, to gain strength to face tomorrow. To follow the light is to go down a road of positivity – accepting storms as a part of life, and using these experiences as tools to bolster a path of purpose and freedom.

One additional part of this production that we are trying out is documenting some of our creative processes and rehearsals.  We will add some of our documentation of that process to this Instagram account. Please feel free to follow us to receive updates as we add content.
