The Urban Artistry Dance Academy has been structured into five directorates to best serve its students: four core directorates and one supporting directorate (see below).
While each core directorate has unique origins, history and course content, the pedagogy/teaching methods and concepts apply across all directorates. Instructors coordinate to help students understand where course content intersects and diverges across the directorates.
The supporting directorate, Special Topics, augments the core directorates by providing in-depth courses in related topics. These courses offer important cultural, historical, and artistic context to the courses in the core directorates, as well as teach new movement. As much as possible, the courses in Special Topics are scheduled based on their relevance to other courses offered on the same day. Subjects in Special Topics are designed to change over time to expose our students to the most comprehensive education possible.
Students are encouraged to take courses from all directorates. Instructors may recommend students take specific classes to further support their learning.
